would you buy a 5 year old used car?

Found a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder with 55k miles on it but it is in EXCELLENT condition and is fully loaded with power doors, locks, windows, mirrors, etc. The cost is $16k. Would you purchase a used car that is 5 or more years old? Does this sound like a good deal?

Cars that have a few years on them can still be in good condition. 55k miles on it is ok but the less miles the better. But what you really want to check for is to make sure it has no problems or issues (no car crashes, a/c works ok, brakes are good, etc). Overall, you want a car that YOU like, if you are happy with it and are will to pay that much then go for it. I would check your car on:

and see what they car you are looking at is worth and see if you are getting a good deal. Good luck =)

You could get a brand new car with a warranty for that price. My car is 7 years old and runs great and I only paid 13,000. You can do better!

Yes, I would purchase a five year old vehicle. I would have it checked by a reputable mechanic before purchasing though.

that is an average trade in price, check http://www.nada.com and enter the pathfinder you have, looks like there were a number of different models. this seems to be an average price so no outstanding deal there, BUT IT IS A BUYERS MARKET, and what that means to you is there are a lot of used cars for sale, so take your time, be patient, and find a really cheap good deal just have paitience the deals are out there but it takes time sometimes. good luck, and as for the eightball who thinks she can get a brand new nissan pathfinder for that price, NO NEW PATHIFINDERS FOR 16K the 2010 starts at 36k and goes up from there. GOOD LUCK

You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

That is the age and mileage where I normally buy my cars, However, for $2K more you can buy a brand new Ford Escape or the like.
