My son has a slow leak in one of his radial tires on his Pathfinder and I told him to have a tube put in it. He went to have this done and they told him that radial tires cannot be tubed…Is this so ?
You can put a tube in a ny kinda tire you like!!! If the puncture in the tire is in the side wall you will have to have a tube to use in that tire otherwise they might just have to use a plugpatch which is self explanitory. A plug and patch in one combo unit!
I own a tire service center and have put in more tubes in then I can shake a stick at. It dosnt matter bias or radial, Either one needs help!

Any tire can be tubed, I just don’t see why. Most leaks can be fixed properly without going into lining it with a tube. If there is damage to the side wall, then a tube will do no good. The radial belts will have been damaged and the tire will be unsafe.

agreed with above.. you can tube any tire.. but it is much easier to fix a non-tubed tire…MUCH easier..

Yes you can put a tube in a radial tire. there is a difference between the tubes for a radial and a biased ply tire but it can be done safely.
if the hole is not in the sidewall it would be cheaper to just have it patched.

It’s one thing to throw a tube in your two wheel cart, atv tire or golf cart and lawn mower… but , come on.. spend the time to get your passenger or light truck tires repaired professionally !
NOT just any tube will work, a radial tube works in either a radial or a bias ply , however a bias ply tube will NOT work in a radial tire.
a patch is the only safe fix in my opinion. If it’s outside the crown of the tread , the tire needs to be replaced.

Never put a tube in a tubeless radial tire. No good can come from it. One time I caved in to a customers demand to put tubes in his tires ( his alloy wheels were so corroded we couldn’t stop the beads from leaking anymore and he was too cheap to buy new wheels). The next day we towed the car back in with 3 flats. The tubes had spun inside the wheel.
If he has a leak, get the leak fixed or if it can’t be fixed replace the tire. No decent tire shop would dare do something like put a tube in the most important piece of safety equipment on the vehicle.
By the way, every tire manufacturer on the planet, the Tire Industry Association and the Rubber Manufacturers Association will absolutely back me up on this. Never tube a tubeless tire. There is a reason they are called tubeless tires.
