2005 nissan pathfinder problems?

Hey guys i have a 2005 nissan pathfinder and today i was driving it and i noticed at higher speeds 55+ it will drop down into low gear like 1st and second and a bunch of smoke with come out the back and i cant give it any gas/power it wont move, i have to stop it put it in park then put it in drive again and it will move but when i reach 55+ it does the same thing.

Also im putting a quart of oil in every 2 days its burning it so fast, from full within 2 days it is under half way gone on the dipstick

Sounds like the head gasket is gone…I would definately stop driving it and have a compression test asap before you blow up the engine.

Looking for a truck for a teenager, need help ASAP!?

So I’m 19, I Love trucks, Pick-ups and Suv’s, I had a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder that i absolutely loved, till it turned out to be a piece of crap, but I’m looking for a "truck" that’ll suite the life of a Teenager, I hear good things about Durango’s and Jeep Cherokee’s (Not grand Cherokee), But also i Love Dodge Ram’s quad Cabs or Chevy Avalanche, so help me out here, i need lists of good trucks like Durango’s and Pick up trucks that are Quad Cab all with 4WD and plenty of Power, so i can screw around off road a bit and power through snow but also have something that can carry friends and have awesome features, something that can have high mileage but have good reviews no matter the mileage, gas isn’t an issue for me so yea, hoping to spend only about $800-3500 but i can do a down payment if needed, Little help please??

Dude, your budget is really low. Just find a truck regardless of make/model.

What are some of the highest rated SUVs?

I currently drive an 06 Jeep Liberty. Looking to upgrade to a different SUV. I want a Toyota 4Runner (05 or newer) or a Nissan Pathfinder, but both are relatively expensive, even used.

Because of my age and credit, Im limiting myself to a loan of 15,000-16,000 and the rest will be my downpayment in cash. However, because of my area, I’m seeing a lot of our 4Runners reselling in the 20-25k range, depending on miles and such.

I am hoping to broaden my searching- I have read and heard amazing reviews on both the 4runner and the pathfinder. I am partial to buying an imported car since my American-made Jeep has done nothing but disappoint..

Is there a list or a website where I can see the highest consumer rated SUVs on the market? I know that everyone has a different opinion on makes and models, so I’d like to find a website that includes many reviews, not just a few.

As far as a good website I’d suggest Consumer Reports. An online subscription costs $7 a month $29 a year, but you can read all of their reviews for free at your local library.

As far as which SUVs you should be looking at check out the Kias and Hyundais. For the last few years they have been making some of the best cars on the road but because of their bad reputation of several years ago the still sell for less than the Toyota and Nissans.

what used SUV would be best? CR-V, explorer, escape, toyota? pathfinder, plus/minuses? MPG and reliability?

looking for a used SUV for under 6000…what would be the best buy? dont want to be crammed with decent MPG and reliability

The CRV or RAV4 is the way to go. The others do not get good gas mileage and are not as reliable. I had a Pathfinder and loved it, but it got about 18-19mpg. My CRV gets about 25.5 mpg avg.

Vox Pathfinder Amplifer?

Is it a good amp? Maybe give me a mini-review? I’m looking to use it for an acoustic-electric guitar. Thanks guys!

for it’s price range it’s definitely one of the best. I seen a comparison on youtube between the pathfinder and the vox ac30 (which cost like £800), and the pathfinder was extremely close to it in sound quality. Solid state amps (pathfinder) do lack a bit of touch sensitivity and dynamics in comparison to tube amps (ac30), but as far as solid state amps go, it’s one of the best.

Though I’ve never used mine with an electro acoustic so I’m not so sure how good it would be for that. You may be better getting an amp dedicated for acoustic. Something like an ibanez t-10, or a laney la12-c, they should be in your price range I believe.

Good luck finding an amp you love, and have fun rocking out :)

I want to know about the car, 2001 pathfinder, thanks.?

Hi, so i think im getting a 2001 pathfinder and i want to have some information about it. For example how many miles does it get on average? How many miles per gallion? Do they have any specific problems i should be aware of? Is it a good car over all? Thanks everyone

Pathfinder is a heavy truck and not aerodynamic. Because there are manual 5 speed gear box and automatic with and with out 4 wheel drive it is hard to say what fuel mileage is going to be. 10 to 17 in town and as high as 18 to 24 on the road. 3.5 liter motor last a long time a 3.3 liter motor needs timing belts every 10 years or 90,000 miles. Servicing is key to long car truck life. For the best car check out find a Nissan technician who can preform a check out before money changes hands. Ask questions make sure your truck has all the service booklets and owners manuals. A ten year old truck is going to have some issues.

For the most part the nissan pathfinder has been a pretty good car, there were only one year I ever heard that had a lot of problems and that was the 2005 so the 01 should be good to go as long as someone has taken good car of it. Routine maintenance is the key for any car with high mileage, go to carcomplaints.com click on nissan in the blue letters to the left on the home page and scroll down to pathfinder and click on that, you will see that the 05 was a lemon but looks like the rest are still going strong. I know a lot of the nissan had an inline 4 that was a workhorse of a engine and it made good horsepower like any small motor when you wound it up it took off and got the job done, for as long as you wanted it to. As with any used car, take it to a mechanic and have a diagonstic done, and make sure you are getting a good car not some beat up hunk of junk. Never listen to the owner about how great a used car is, always trust your mechanic to back up what you were told. Go to www.samarins.com if you would like information on how to buy a car and what to look for and what to look out for, also there is a section for used car reviews. And www.nada.com has a consumer section with a price guide so you can get an idea of what one is worth when you find out the miles it has. Always be patient when looking for a good used car, find the jewel of the desert, not the rust bucket of nantucket.

2005 nissan pathfinder front rotors?

how do i remove my front rotors. im guessing its not as easy as taking off the tire and brake assembly and the rotor slide off. can anyone please tell me how to do this..thanks
i did that, i asked the same question on a different site and two people said you have to take out the carter pin and that big ol nut.

No, the rotors on this vehicle are floaters meaning they have bearings, the rotor is captured on the hub and the following parts has to be removed; the brake caliper and bracket, the six nuts that hold the automatic locking hub housing on remove it by slightly tapping on it, next remove the 2 Philips screws holding the lock plate on the nut, next using a small punch tap the bearing nut loose (CCW rotation) using the holes (not the two threaded ones) to tap it loose remove the nut, bearing, and hub/rotor assembly now remove the 14mm bolts that hold the rotor to the hub and reverse the procedure to install! NOTE: Shop charges 3.0 hours for both sides on the path.

Who do documentaries about the Mars missions never mention the Mars Pathfinder from the mid nineties?

They tend to spend ages on the Rovers, and mention all the eralier ones, even the failed Russian ones, but act as if the Mars Pathfinder never existed.

Ive searched around a bit, but to no avail. It could be some sort of mess up in the program, or it could be that people didn’t want it mentioned, due to embarrassment. But these are all COULD BEs.

Or it could be a conspiracy having to do with the movie, transformers. :)

Hope this helps a bit!

How hard is it to change cv axles on a 1995 nissan pathfinder?

i have a 1995 nissan pathfinder 4×4 and i was wondering how hard it is to replace the cv axles and how you would do it

Cody your in for the greasiest day(s) of hard work you have done in some time. 1995 is the first year for Pathfinder shock strut front suspension and removing the axles you have to deal with 4 wheel drive automatic engage front hubs. I would suggest a professional with Nissan 4×4 experence and a automotive lift and solvent cleaning sink to clean and repack the wheel bearings and clean work area. Be sure to preform any necessary suspension and brake repair while they are in there. Not really a DIY job unless the neighbors like to see your truck up on stands for a week stranded out on your driveway. Good Luck
