What do I need for my new car stereo?

I’m about to put together a new stereo and I need to know what size stuff I need and who the best brands are. For instance, if I want a 300 watt amp what do the, CD player, speakers, subs and stuff like that need to be (as far as wattage goes) to keep from screwing things up. By the way, I have a ’97 Nissan Pathfinder.

Really, the amp is one of the last things you look at, unless you already have one and are trying to build off that. Start from the basics, the head unit. What features do you want? Next, move to speakers, then to subs, then to amps. The amp is whats going to power it all so you you need to know how much power you need first. How do you like to listen to your music? What kind of music do you listen to? Remember also to look at RMS wattage. That’s the average watts it can sustain as opposed to the peak watts which is how much it can put out briefly. Most brands of anything are going to tell you everything in peak watts, not RMS. The best place I’ve found so far is crutchfield.com. You can look at components filtered to your car. Plus they have awesome customer service that you can talk to via phone or IM. There’s also the crutchfield advisor which helps you learn how to do almost anything you can think of. Including building the ideal car stereo for you. I added links for the main site and the page to build a stereo. Good luck!

IT doesn’t matter at all bro as long as for play your music low or mid low. Never go max, cause that is the problem.

300 watt amp and kick any speaker already but the powerful one it won’t do much.

2000watts subs and less are fine with a 300 watt speaker unless your planing to shake some house window than get a 1000watt up amp.

    Anyways, it don’t really matter.

I have a 340 something MTX amp that kicks two fosgate DVC pretty loud but I bridge it tho. Anyways, about bidging, as long as you keep it 25/50 than it should be aright.
