I just installed new running boards on my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder after the OEM ones rusted?

I live literally 500 feet or so from the beach so I imagine the salt in the air caused them to rust so quickly, I purchased some new stainless steel ones and installed them, the site says they will not rust, but I am curious, do you think I should apply something on them to keep them from rusting, and if so, what can I apply that isn’t super messy and won’t mess up the color, or should they be bale to hold up to the sea salt in the air since they are stainless steel?
