I think you’re analyzing the "check engine" light too much. It could be as simple as you didn’t tighten the gas cap enough. "Check engine" DOES NOT necessarily mean you need a tune up. It might, but it might not.

Just take it to a dealership and ask them…or any mechanic.

I was able to take off the piece around the power window button and got all the clips off in the door except for the top corner near the door handle. So everything was off I could see the speaker and the inside of the panel but I couldn’t get the panel completely off because something in the top left corner is holding it on. Do I have to remove the handle to take the panel off? How can I completely remove the panel so I can get to the speaker?

you have to take off the soft armrest part by pulling up on it to expose two screws that need to be removed.

there is also a screw behind door open handle, and you have to carefully pry out the two small pieces of plastic to get to it.

be careful, the colder plastic is the more easily it will crack

Winiing noise buzzing noise? caused by worn chain guides tension devices and secondary timing chains are warrantied for 6 year 60 thousand miles. Hope your truck has extended warranty… A nissan technician can replace the noisy parts for about 10/12 hours non warranty labor. Oil change, coolant change and don’t forget if your truck has over 120,000 miles also to replace the water pump and fan belt too and any other necessary parts while the front of the motor is taken apart. so 1,000 labor to 1,200 labor the Technician gets 200 to 260 dollars. Parts can run about 250 to 350 dollars. I give the truck a really good look over and review any other missed items like incabin air filter and engine air filter too. Good Luck

I need to buy new lockers for my 93 pathfinder and I’ve made some research but some online stores offer me locker with 27 splines and other stores with 28, so I’m not really sure wich should I get

Hey there! I’m so glad to be able to help you with your Pathfinder! I have one too, and I love it. They are amazing. Good thing for you, I know plenty about them.

Ok, so your issue. Here’s how it is. You want to buy new locking hubs? I think that’s what you mean. I assume you are buying Warn? It’s a good brand, but a little pricey. You might want to look into Nissan OEM hubs. They are the strongest ever made for the Pathfinder.

Anyway, I don’t know what you know, but I’m going to tell you anyway. The "spline count" is the number of ridges on your CV axles. Nissan 720 trucks (1980-1986) had 26 spline. Nissan Pathfinders (1987-1990) had 27 spline, and Nissan Pathfinders (1990-1995) have 28 spline. Yours has 28 Spline.

There is a very small chance you have 27 spline. The 27 spline and 28 spline axles are interchangeable, so it’s possible but VERY unlikely that you may have replacement axles that are 27 spline. This is like a .05% change though haha.

So go ahead and buy your 28 spline ones and you will be a happy camper.
Two months ago, I didn’t know anything about my Nissan. Now I’m nearly an expert! It’s all because of http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/

best to pickup a service manual with torque setting and pattern to tighten bolts down.

before replacing head gasket make sure what was reason it blew.

OEM head gasket:

My mother’s pathfinder is rotting like crazy. It is 12 years old, she has gotten 160k miles out of it, I am sure she can get another 100k. She loves the car. She doesn’t want to get a new one. She has it paid off and loves not having a car payment.

I don’t know what to get her for Christmas, so I figured I was just going to fix her car up. About how much would it be to replace all the siding?

More like 14years old 2012 models at dealerships now. The rust you see is only the beginning bolts and nuts under the truck and on the exhaust will break off if turned. Suspension parts steering pieces all will have heavy rust too. Unitized body on that year model pathfinder will make replacing body panels more costly. Rear quarter panels rear fender arches are welded to the bodywork. I know people like no car payments but it is time for a new truck when you can see holes in the rear fenders and safety items like brake hoses start rusting out.

I have a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder SE. 3.0 4×4 automatic. It will idle fine but once I start driving it for about 10 minutes I smell a sulphuric smell and it starts stuttering horribly and just dies. After it cools off it’ll fire back up and do the same thing.

The sulfur smell is from the catalytic converter going out. The converter is clogged and when it heats up it closes off what little air flow there is, causing a restriction in the exhaust. That restriction is what causes the engine to die. With no flow through the exhaust the engine can’t get rid of the burned mixture in the cylinders, so it literally chokes to death. When it cools it opens up enough to drive a little further before it shuts off again. Have the catalytic converter replaced and it should run fine. You might also do a tune-up while you’re at it. The biggest cause of catalytic converter failure (besides age and miles) is a poorly running engine. Keep the engine running right and get the converter replaced; should be fine after that.

Edit: Oh, and don’t drive it much more with the clogged converter. The exhaust is one way the engine gets rid of heat, so clogging the exhaust will also cause heat to build up in the engine and cause major damage.
