I think you're analyzing the "check engine" light too much. It could be as simple as you didn't tighten the gas cap enough. "Check engine" DOES NOT necessarily mean you need a tune up. It might, but it might not.

Just take it to a dealership and ask them...or any mechanic.
References :
I would recommend going to a part store like Autozone, O'reilly or advanced and have them check the codes onyour check engine light. They offer that service for free and it can help you find out what needs to be fixed on your car.

Good luck!
References :
you have to take off the soft armrest part by pulling up on it to expose two screws that need to be removed.

there is also a screw behind door open handle, and you have to carefully pry out the two small pieces of plastic to get to it.

be careful, the colder plastic is the more easily it will crack
References :
Winiing noise buzzing noise? caused by worn chain guides tension devices and secondary timing chains are warrantied for 6 year 60 thousand miles. Hope your truck has extended warranty... A nissan technician can replace the noisy parts for about 10/12 hours non warranty labor. Oil change, coolant change and don't forget if your truck has over 120,000 miles also to replace the water pump and fan belt too and any other necessary parts while the front of the motor is taken apart. so 1,000 labor to 1,200 labor the Technician gets 200 to 260 dollars. Parts can run about 250 to 350 dollars. I give the truck a really good look over and review any other missed items like incabin air filter and engine air filter too. Good Luck
References :
Nissan Master Tech

Too much to fix. So my opinion is to just park so you never have to back up.
References :
whoop whoop whoop. 69 years of not backing up. whoop whoop.

Hey there! I'm so glad to be able to help you with your Pathfinder! I have one too, and I love it. They are amazing. Good thing for you, I know plenty about them.

Ok, so your issue. Here's how it is. You want to buy new locking hubs? I think that's what you mean. I assume you are buying Warn? It's a good brand, but a little pricey. You might want to look into Nissan OEM hubs. They are the strongest ever made for the Pathfinder.

Anyway, I don't know what you know, but I'm going to tell you anyway. The "spline count" is the number of ridges on your CV axles. Nissan 720 trucks (1980-1986) had 26 spline. Nissan Pathfinders (1987-1990) had 27 spline, and Nissan Pathfinders (1990-1995) have 28 spline. Yours has 28 Spline.

There is a very small chance you have 27 spline. The 27 spline and 28 spline axles are interchangeable, so it's possible but VERY unlikely that you may have replacement axles that are 27 spline. This is like a .05% change though haha.

So go ahead and buy your 28 spline ones and you will be a happy camper.
Two months ago, I didn't know anything about my Nissan. Now I'm nearly an expert! It's all because of http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/
References :
http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/
