2001 Nissan Pathfinder towing question?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I own a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with 90,000 miles on it. I have maintained it perfectly and use synthetic oil. I was curious if it would be wise to tow a 3200lb travel trailer 500 miles with it??
I know it has a 5000lb capacity, just curious about the mileage

Get an external transmission cooler installed before you do it.

Some mid-sized SUVs aren’t geared well for towing things over 3000 lbs. I’m not saying they aren’t capable of doing the job, it just isn’t gonna be as comfortable of a drive as, say, a pickup truck. Just sayin’.

After changing my car battery my CD player in my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder doesn’t work. Any ideas on how to fix

Could have simply blown the fuse inside the radio I had the same problem a couple of year ago and run my self ragged trying to figure it out the whole time it was just a damn fuse.

are the transmission line on a 2001 pathfinder treaded or flared?

A guess. Both. Threaded nut and flared end.

Service engine soon on my 2001 nissan pathfinder what do i need to do about that?

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Service engine soon! Malfunction Indicator light? That light turns on when there is a issue that could cause more emissions. Anything from a loose gas cap to a major engine repair issue. Get the code read and also ask if you can write down the freeze frame data. The auto parts store will want to sell you some parts for testing for the check engine light. But please wait then ask your question again. My pathfinder has a P0303 code what should i do about it. Could a P0303 misfire code damage my cat converter?

Increase in RPM on its own in 2001 Nissan Pathfinder?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Has anyone ever had the experience or heard of an increase in RPM on a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder SE? Another words, you’re driving the truck at abount 30 mph or whatever speed and all of a sudden there is a kick in RPM and the truck takes off on its own…

Has anybody heard of this?

sounds like the transmission just changed gears all automatic transmissions do that

2001 Pathfinder has started to occasionally shake?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

2001 Pathfinder with ~100k miles has started to occasionally shake, sometimes at start-up (in park), sometimes while driving. Check engine light goes on sometimes too. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Have it tuned up, change plugs and wires and airfilter.

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder, but not strong at high rpm but does not reach 2000 rpm. Any help?

sorry google translator
was running but lost power on the freeway

First, check for clogged catalytic converter / exhaust
Second, check fuel pressure + flow
Third, check timing belt / timing gear alignment marks (could have jumped a tooth or two).

will 2001 pathfinder parts fit on 1998?

Friday, January 1st, 2010

I really like how the 2001 pathfinder looks and i have a 1998 and was wondering what parts would fit and what parts wouldn’t

Some parts of the 98 will fit the 01 pathfinder. If you are thinking about doing some parts switching, call a local salvage yard and ask if the part will "interchange"

2001 pathfinder, oil leak, need the name of the round thing on the passenger side of th oil filter?

Friday, December 18th, 2009

The 2001 pathfinder is equipped with a VQ35DE engine.
The item you are refering to is called an oil cooler. remove oil filter
and you will notice two hoses that attach to the round thing. These are coolant hoses. The pipe the oil filter screws onto has a captive nut up against the cooler(round thing) unscrew this to remove the cooler. (after draining coolant and remove the hoses)
replace the o-rings and reinstall.
Note if you have hose pinching pliers you can pinch off the hoses and draining coolant will not be necessary. silicone grease or petrolium jelly will hold the o-rings in place during reinstalation.

2001 pathfinder, squeals when it starts, i changed the belts, still nothing, any idea why?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Improper belt tension can cause the belt to squeal, regardless of the belt’s age. Check/adjust the belt tension on the new belt and keep the old belt as a backup in case the new one breaks sometime (since the new one is already installed I wouldn’t take it off now…)
