2001 pathfinder, squeals when it starts, i changed the belts, still nothing, any idea why?

Improper belt tension can cause the belt to squeal, regardless of the belt’s age. Check/adjust the belt tension on the new belt and keep the old belt as a backup in case the new one breaks sometime (since the new one is already installed I wouldn’t take it off now…)

  2. Belt could be too tight or too loose. If it is not an issue of too tight or loose go to the auto parts store and get a can of belt dressing and spray it down a little.

  3. Go to your local auto parts store they have a spray the goes on your belt that willstop it from squeaking. It is as simple as buying and spraying.
    It DOES work!!!

    Been there, done that!

  4. Do not use spray. It squeals again a few weeks later and dries in the grooves of the pulleys. Vaseline. A thin coating does not slip and helps the belt last longer. If it still squeaks check your accessories; power steering, alternator, AC
