I own a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with 90,000 miles on it. I have maintained it perfectly and use synthetic oil. I was curious if it would be wise to tow a 3200lb travel trailer 500 miles with it??
I know it has a 5000lb capacity, just curious about the mileage
Get an external transmission cooler installed before you do it.
Some mid-sized SUVs aren’t geared well for towing things over 3000 lbs. I’m not saying they aren’t capable of doing the job, it just isn’t gonna be as comfortable of a drive as, say, a pickup truck. Just sayin’.
If you are on flat land, then it is no problem. However, if you are going into the mountains, I would be concerned about the transmission and over heating.
If you are going into the mountains, it would be worth having a competent mechanic look at it.

That is okay. It will not hurt your car.
It will just make it slower and give it worse gas mileage since it is pulling extra weight.
